Connect

Shunda Giles – Connect Head

At The House of Prayer we greatly value relationships. Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus’ words emphasize two relationships, the horizontal and the vertical. The vertical relationship deals with how we relate to God. The horizontal relationship deals with how we relate to one another as believers and how we relate to the world around us. Connect Groups deal with both.

The acronym for Connect Groups is RED:

Relate

Evangelize

Disciple

These groups are designed to help people relate to other people in the family of God that make up our local church. They also help us to relate to God through Biblically based teaching, practical application of God’s Word, and prayer. A major facet of these groups is evangelism-the Great Commission. Evangelism is the natural result of Christ in a believer’s life. These groups make it easy to get those who are unchurched into a setting where they can hear about the love and truth of the Gospel. Connect Groups also look for
ways to serve the community and reach out. Through positive interactions with others and solid, practical, foundational teaching, Connect Groups facilitate discipleship. Through these groups we truly become more connected to God and one another. So, what are you waiting for? Get connected!
